Who is Jonathan Ross? ICE agent who shot Minneapolis woman

The ICE agent who fatally shot Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis on Wednesday is the same officer who was dragged and injured during an arrest attempt last year.

Court documents reviewed by Newsweek identify the agent as Jonathan Ross. He was involved in the June 17, 2025, apprehension of Roberto Carlos Munoz, a convicted sex offender originally from Guatemala, in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Gabe Whisnant named executive editor of Greenville News, Gannett SC publications

Gabe Whisnant has been named executive editor of the Greenville News, Spartanburg Herald-Journal and Anderson Independent Mail.

Mark Russell, executive editor of The Commercial Appeal in Memphis and South regional deputy editor for News parent company Gannett, announced the hire Wednesday, March 29.

As executive editor, Whisnant will also direct three Gannett weekly publications in SC’s Lowcountry - Bluffton Today, the Hampton County Guardian and the Jasper County Sun Times.

Gabe Whisnant named News Director for Spartanburg

Upstate South Carolina journalist Gabe Whisnant has been named news director at the Spartanburg Herald-Journal, executive editor Steve Bruss announced Friday.

Whisnant will oversee day-to-day operations of the newsroom, leading a team of 12 journalists covering Spartanburg and Spartanburg County. He has been serving as interim news director since April 20.

Gabe Whisnant is assistant managing editor, digital, at the Spartanburg Herald-Journal/GoUpstate.com in South Carolina. He previously worked as a news editor at The Shelby Star and sports editor at The Gaston Gazette in North Carolina.
